Craftsmanship Our Clients Appreciate

★★★★★
The team at Olek did a wonderful job restoring and repairing our almost-150-year-old doors on our home. They worked with us to come up with a plan that was functional, within our budget, and still provided a major aesthetic upgrade. Our doors look wonderful and feel durable and secure!

My Park Avenue client needed a custom carved mantel mirror and additional repairs to his antique mantelpiece. Olek was able to provide the nicest, incredibly talented wood craftsman I have ever had the pleasure to work with. We watched Yuri do work on site and were simply enthralled with his professionalism and surprisingly quick work. I just want to find more work for him; it was so fun. Thank you to Mr.Triestman for organizing the work and keeping us on track.

They repaired/restored a late 1800s/early 1900s door from a cottage in Wildwood. The door had extensive damage with missing panels and cracked wood. When I tried to find people to do the work, most carpenters refused the job due to the amount of damage, but Olek was up for the job and did amazing work replacing the missing panels/wood and bringing the door back to life.

Historic Landmark Restoration FAQs

What historic building elements does Olek restore?

Olek works on monumental doors, period woodwork, ornate railings and metalwork, windows, architectural detailing and decorative historic finishes. Scope depends on the material, condition and project requirements.

Can you preserve original materials rather than replace them?

Yes. Repair and retention of sound historic fabric are central considerations. Where components cannot be safely retained, any selective replacement or replication should be documented and approved within the project scope.

Do you coordinate with preservation architects and project teams?

Yes. Existing-condition reviews, material samples, access planning and treatment methods can be coordinated with architects, conservators, contractors and building representatives.

Can you replicate missing architectural details?

Olek can produce matching wooden and metal ornamental elements using surviving examples, measured dimensions and approved drawings as references. Matching profiles, textures and finishes are reviewed as part of the scope.

Can projects be completed in occupied landmark buildings?

The execution approach is agreed around site access, use of the building, protection of adjacent finishes, safety requirements and scheduling. Certain elements may be removed for workshop treatment while other work must be performed on site.

Which materials can your workshop handle?

Capabilities include architectural wood and veneers, bronze and steel, custom hardware and cast elements, decorative surface finishes, and selected conservation and specialty fabrication processes.

Do you work with government or institutional procurement teams?

Olek has public and institutional project experience and can provide its capabilities information for review. Insurance, bonding, site documentation and procurement requirements should be confirmed for each project.

What should we send for an initial historic restoration review?

Share the building or landmark name, photographs, drawings if available, the affected elements, material and condition notes, site location, intended schedule and any preservation approvals already in place.
