I had a wonderful experience reupholstering my vintage sofa with Olek! While not the lowest estimate I received, the questions they asked at the upfront gave me the confidence that they were the most qualified to rehab my sofa - and I'm so glad I chose them. They were communicative throughout the process and recommended high-quality fabrics. My couch looks beautiful and sits like new. I highly recommend!

Olek is just amazing - there is no other way to describe my experience with them! Peter Triestman is not only extremely knowledgeable, his honesty in recommending an efficient solution is way beyond what we have gotten used to seeing these days. He found a solution to my very unusual problem in the most cost-efficient way that anyone can imagine

Olek is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and attentive to detail. It made me very confident that my two custom restorations were going to turn out perfectly. These people are informed professionals and pleasant to work with.

★★★★★
I had 5 pieces of wood furniture each 100+ years old restored by Olek and I couldn't be happier with the work they did. Each piece was returned to me in the time frame estimated in excellent condition both structurally and aesthetically. Their craftsmanship is totally worth the price. I also was pleased with their customer service. They explained what they were doing with each piece and provided any optional choices before proceeding.

The shock mounts on our 50 year old Eames lounge chair failed. In addition to repairing them, we had the leather upholstery treated, the wood refinished and the metal buffed. The quality of the workmanship was superb, the turnaround time was prompt, and the people we dealt with were knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Didn't come cheap, but the result was worth every penny.

The team at Olek did a wonderful job restoring and repairing our almost-150-year-old doors on our home. They worked with us to come up with a plan that was functional, within our budget, and still provided a major aesthetic upgrade. Our doors look wonderful and feel durable and secure!

OLEK is, without a doubt, a superior furniture restoration and reupholstery workroom, so conveniently located in Essex County, New Jersey. From an everyday job to historic repairing of wood, iron, car materials, historic windows, fabric and much more, Peter and his crew work wonders and inform you every step of the way. We had a set of four Indonesian Mahogany chairs restored that we snagged on bulky waste night at curbside, as well as other mid-century modern chairs that needed a little TLC. Cost is reasonable and care is something from days gone by. Call Peter or Yan today. You can't imagine how pleased you will be!

Delighted with Olek's immaculate and timely work to reupholster our set of 6 Vienna Secession dining chairs. The "before" and "after" difference is remarkable! Now, we can really enjoy them. Beauty and utility restored! Thank you to the whole Olek team for the excellent job and smooth process. A pleasure!

STUNNED!!! Pleasantly! After a protracted storage period for some treasured furnishings, I had the unfortunate experience of seeing the effects of time, lack of care and the elements had on them. From rust to degraded fabric and components (wheels, casters, wiring) to chipped, faded wood and brass trim.I feel extremely lucky to have found Olek, Inc. in Orange, New Jersey. As I sent photos of an Herman Miller Eames office chair, Knoll Albini desk, Anglepoise Floor and table lamps and a unique Art Deco Rosewood side table they quickly offered to restore all of them with confidence. EVEN after seeing them in person. They worked to explain the processes required since Ihonestly thought these were all "lost" for good.Thrilled to report that was not the case. As a matter of fact, I am posting here willingly because of the outstanding result on every single piece. Not only has every piece been restored to the original beauty but the Rosewood table specifically (made of a combination of Rosewood, steel plates and casters as wheels) looks better than when originally bought. I cannot express how pleased I am with the results.Cleary Peter and his team are extremely professional. They took the time and care to bring these pieces back from what I assumed was disrepair (if not despair). As importantly, they listened.DTEN

The nice folks at Olek have now done two jobs for me; both restorations of Eames side chairs. The work they did was excellent, there was good turn around time, and they communicated with me very quickly. I'm really happy to have found such a professional operation for furniture restoration and I highly recommend them.

Outstanding! I had a 1970s leather barrel chair repaired -- new cushioning for the seat and part of the leather replaced. The seat feels totally comfortable and the leather is a perfect match. I also had 1980s dining room chairs repaired -- new seat cushioning and new fabric. This, also, was a perfect repair job. The skills of the folks at this shop are off the charts excellent! Plus, Peter, Yan, the technicians I met, and even the dogs, are all very cool. Unique!

My mother owns an antique black lacquered coffee table with three porcelain medallions. The table had seen better days with the lacquer flaking off, joints becoming unstable and overall this beautiful piece looked rough. I brought the table to Olek’s furniture restoration shop and they detailed all of work required and the inlays and colors used. After many painstaking weeks and many emails, Peter and his team returned the table back to my mom. To say we did not recognize it would be an understatement. The table did not look shiny and new but age appropriate and pristine. It was gorgeous! We get countless compliments and have had several offers to buy the table. I would recommend Olek to anyone serious about having their furniture professionally and expertly restored. You will not be disappointed.

First class experience all around. A beautiful repair to our iconic Eames lounge chair. After the initial shockmount repair, we had Olek precisely restore upholstery and the original rosewood -- looks spectacular! Wonderful customer service as well — highly recommend.

We had two very unusual objects in very bad shape. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had a feeling that these two repairs would be in good hands. The results are amazing! This made a very special gift to my husband as both objects were family heirlooms. He was thrilled. I appreciate the professionalism, high quality repair and stellar skill set of all those craftsman who are part of OLEK. If you have the money to take care of something really special, this is the place to get it done, and done extremely well! I am thankful for these people!

I have a V. Kagan 175 E armchair that was literally falling apart- the wood was separating at the joins and the leather seat and padding were shot- Peter at Olek did and amazing job bringing it back to "like new." They aren't cheap, but the quality is so worth it- I highly recommend them for mid-century furniture restorations!

I bought my Eames Chair in 1989. Its been reasonably well cared for but used almost daily for all those years. Olek has been my go to for all necessary service on the chair. I can't say enough good about Peter and his company. They're very professional. They communicate with you as to what needs to be done This last work was replacing the cushions on both the ottoman and the chair. The leather matches perfectly. Thanks Peter and all for a making my chair whole again.

Loose joints, lifted veneer, missing carving and tired finishes on antiques, heirlooms and built-ins. We repair to the original construction, using wood-to-wood fixes instead of filler, so the piece is sound again and the repair stays invisible.

Residential Furniture Restoration FAQs

How much does furniture restoration cost?

Each piece is priced on its own, because a loose chair joint and a full veneer repair are very different jobs. Send photos and rough dimensions and we reply with a free estimate within 24 hours. After we see the piece, a written proposal confirms the scope, price and schedule before any work starts.

How long will my piece be in the workshop?

It depends on the piece and the work. A local finish repair is far quicker than rebuilding a sofa or matching missing veneer, and fabric lead times and finish curing add time. Instead of a blanket turnaround, your proposal gives a schedule for your piece, which we keep you updated against.

Do you pick up and deliver?

Yes. We collect and return furniture across New York City and New Jersey with fully insured, white-glove handling. For homes farther away we arrange specialty furniture carriers. Built-ins, paneling and mantels that can’t travel are assessed in your home, and some of that work can be done on site.

What does the warranty cover?

Select work carries a warranty of up to 50 years. Coverage depends on the type of repair, so your proposal states exactly which work is covered and for how long. Read it before you approve, and ask us about anything that isn’t clear — the terms are set per piece, not as a blanket promise.

Will you strip the original finish?

Only if it can’t be saved. Original finish and patina often carry much of an antique’s character and value, so we may suggest cleaning, local repair or color matching instead. We explain each option and what it changes before you decide. The furniture refinishing page lists the finishes we work with.

Is there anything you don’t take on here?

This team handles wood and upholstered furniture, built-ins, mantels and architectural woodwork. Eames lounge chairs, museum-grade conservation, stained glass, gilding and painted objects go to our specialty team instead. Send photos either way and we will point you to the right service before you commit to anything.

How do I get started?

Use the form below or email photos: one of the whole piece, close-ups of any damage, rough dimensions and your town. Labels, maker’s marks or notes on earlier repairs help too. We reply with a free estimate within 24 hours and arrange a visit or pickup if you decide to go ahead.
